Information Ministry backs “mydaftar campaign”

Information Ministry Deputy Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz informed the media that the Ministry fully backs the initiative taken by the Prime Minister’s Department’s, Special Implementation Taskforce on the Indian Community.

Datuk Maglin said this at a press conference held at his Ministry on Monday Jan 17, 2011 at 10am. Also present were Datuk Siva Subramanian and Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria from the Taskforce secretariat.

The Information officers will assist the Registration officers in 30 districts and at 61 JPN officers in 9 states, a number of ways. They will assist in the dissemination of information in the pre campaign period. They will also assist JPN officers during the campaign period by being stationed at the JPN office to assist the coordination of volunteers and translation. In addition the RTM both the TV and radio will play they role

This is a major effort on the part of the Federal government in documenting all the undocumented Malaysian Indians, which requires the support of the relevant agencies, political parties and community groups.

The Deputy Minister assured the full support of the Information Ministry and called on the media including the non Tamil papers to continue highlighting the campaign thereby encouraging all the affected people to come out and register themselves with the Registration Department.
